Building partnerships across regional government offices in Dar es Salaam to identify, catalog, and begin preservation of citizen records.
Tanzania is Pre’s third country engagement and represents the application of everything we learned in Burundi and the Republic of Congo. We are in the partnership-building phase: identifying record sources, meeting with regional government officials, and assessing the scope of preservation needed.
Dar es Salaam’s government offices hold decades of citizen records across multiple regional jurisdictions. The challenge is not just digitization — it is first identifying where records are, in what condition, and who has authority over them.
